David Waill
David Waill serves as Libertas’ Senior Managing Director (Credit) and is responsible for leading efforts to create more effective and efficient financial solutions.
David has more than 30 years’ experience in progressively responsible leadership roles at top-tier investment banking, lending and alternative credit organizations. Prior to joining Libertas, he served as managing director of Benefit Street Partners. From 1999 to 2017, David worked at DeutscheBank, advancing to oversee the leveraged loan portfolio globally as managing director. From 1989 to 1999, he he worked as an Institutional Investor Magazine-rated high-yield research analyst at Merrill Lynch, advancing to roles including first vice president and managing director. During his career, David has helped navigate multiple credit cycles as a senior underwriting and capital allocation decision maker, including several high profile debt restructurings. Additionally, he was elected on the independent Board of Deutsche Bank Trust Company of the Americas, Deutsche Bank’s regulated and FDIC-insured U.S. commercial banking subsidiary with more than $50 billion in assets.
For more than 21 years, David has participated in non-profit efforts as a New York State emergency medical technician with his local community’s all-volunteer 911 emergency rescue and emergency medical services, providing care and transport to patients in need, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
David holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration from NYU Stern School of Business.
